Meat’s back on the menu

Lord of the Rings

In “The Lord of the Rings: Two Towers”, movie, not the book. Early on Merry and Pippin are captives of a band of Oruki Orcs and goblin men.

They have been running for days without stop, food or drink and one of the goblin men is getting HANGRY. He decides that it will be okay to just cut off the hobbits arms or legs to eat. After all, they are being carried anyway, the hobbits don’t need them.

This is in direct contradiction to the orders of Saruman and leads to that goblin being killed by one of the orcs, who exclaims:

Meat’s back on the menu, boys!

Oruki Warrior

Wait a tick? Menu? Orcs know what a menu is?

Well if they do, it stands to reason that they have been in a restaurant. Which poses an interesting question. What, exactly, does a restaurant in Mordor look like?

I’m picturing something dank, with terrible lighting and even worse appetizers. Probably decent beer though. One thing is beyond certain however. They all require reservations.

One does not simply walk into a Mordor restaurant.
